When It's Time to Apologise...

There are many, many reasons why people apologise. Sometimes people apologise to clear their conscience, or to admit guilt. Sometimes people apologise to settle an argument, or to shut someone up. Sometimes people apologise in order to appear remorseful or to demonstrate a change of heart. Sometimes people apologise because it's easier than dealing with the issue, or because they know others won't. And sometimes, people apologise simply because they've been an ass. The problem with apologies is that the longer you leave them, the harder they become. Whether it be friends, family, partners or strangers - failing to deal with the problem and admit responsibility can be toxic. Feelings of guilt or resentment fester like open wounds, growing infected in your ignorance, turning putrid and black the more you try to ignore or dismiss them. Here's something a little bit different for you today, my dear readers. This is not a deeply happy post, nor a deeply sad one. It is not an opinion piece on current events or on my twisted perceptions of life. It's not a post about falling in love, or falling out of it.  Instead, it's a simple thank you. Because I realised that, no matter how many people read these blogs or even care about what I have to say, there is always somebody out there listening. And that's pretty amazing. I'm so grateful for each and every person who takes a minute out of their day to read the random ramblings I somehow scramble into words on paper. I hope you realise how much it means to me.
